How to convert an image

  1. Upload your image in any common format.
  2. Choose the target format and, for JPG/WebP/AVIF, a quality.
  3. Convert and download the new file.

Picking the right format

PNG is lossless with transparency — best for logos, icons and screenshots. JPG is the universal photo format. WebP and AVIF are modern formats that pack photos into much smaller files at the same quality; AVIF is the smallest but takes longer to encode and isn't supported in every browser.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats can it convert between?

PNG, JPG, WebP and AVIF, in any direction your browser supports. PNG is always available; WebP and AVIF depend on the browser's built-in encoder, and any format it can't produce is greyed out automatically.

Will converting to JPG remove transparency?

Yes. JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are flattened. Convert to PNG or WebP instead if you need to keep a transparent background.

What does the quality slider do?

For the lossy formats — JPG, WebP and AVIF — it trades a little visual detail for a smaller file. PNG is lossless, so the slider is hidden for it.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion runs locally using the canvas API. Nothing you open is sent anywhere.
